The Iron were beaten 1-0 by Mansfield Town at the Northolme on Saturday morning.
Youth development officer Tony Daws said: "It was a really scrappy game, strangled by the very strong wind."We never got to grips with Mansfield's direct and physical style of play which proved to be more conducive to the elements on the day.
"We didn't get our passing game going falling 1-0 behind after half hour when a long ball over caught our back four out and the visitors capitalised.
"Although we pushed hard in the second half we were well below our usual standards and couldn't pull it round."
