WORKING ON A NUMBER OF THINGS

1 January 2015

With the January Transfer Window looming, the majority of loan players’ spells at the club are set to expire.

Bobby Olejnik, Shaun Brisley (both Peterborough United), Luke Williams (Middlesbrough) and Alex Davey's (Chelsea) deals expire in the opening week of January – with only Liam O’Neil (West Bromwich Albion) available for the Iron’s next league game against Walsall on January 10.

“There’s no new news on them, everybody’s loan spell is up apart from Liam who will be with us until after the Walsall game,” Ned Kelly told The Iron Player.

“We’re trying to do a few bits and bobs, not only with the loan players but also with our targets for January and for other players to come in and help the group."

Liam O’Neil’s circumstances at West Bromwich Albion could now change following the dismissal of their manager Alan Irvine, but Kelly couldn’t provide any further information on the midfielder’s loan following the fresh news coming out of the Hawthorns.

He added: “That will be up to West Brom and Richard Garlick (their director of football). At the minute, we’ve got Liam until after the Walsall game. It’s a shame Alan got the sack.

“Again, there will be a phone call going into West Brom, but they’ll be up in the air at the minute following that decision. Again, we will just have to wait and see.”
