PREVIEW: CHESTERFIELD (A)

13 January 2015

The Iron are back in FA Cup action on Tuesday as they travel to Chesterfield in their third round replay, with a tie at Championship side Derby awaiting the winner.

Mark Robins’ side drew the original clash 2-2 at Glanford Park, which helped to extend United’s unbeaten run that now stands at 11 matches.

The Iron enjoyed an emphatic 4-1 victory at Walsall on Saturday so will be full of confidence going into the all-League One cup clash.

Chesterfield come into the game on the back of an impressive 3-0 victory against fellow play-off chasers Port Vale, a result that keeps them in 7th place.

Armand Gnanduillet, Eoin Doyle and Charlie Raglan were all on target for Paul Cook’s Spireites to put them on their way to their ninth win in League One this season.

The Iron will be without their latest signings for the trip to the Proact Stadium though as they were not registered to play for United in the third round.

Jacob Murphy, Tom Hopper and Jordan Clarke are all unavailable, although loanee Alex Davey is eligible to play in the cup replay.

Mark Robins will still have a strong squad, full of confidence at his disposal though as the Iron look to extend their unbeaten run to 12 matches.

The Iron will be hoping to complete the job this time after drawing the game at Glanford Park 2-2, despite going into a 2-0 lead.

Alex Davey and Lyle Taylor put the hosts in a commanding position, but Chesterfield hit back through Eoin Doyle and Jay O’Shea to force a replay.

This will be the fourth meeting between the sides this season, with a win for both and a draw in the encounters so far. It will also be the fourth time the two sides have met each other in the FA Cup.
