NO RESTING IN OUR QUEST TO IMPROVE

27 January 2015

Mark Robins provided a transfer update after the signing of goalkeeper Joe Anyon made it his fifth arrival this window.

Anyon joins Luke Daniels, Tom Hopper, Jacob Murphy and Jordan Clarke through the door, while Luke O’Neil and Alex Davey had their loans renewed until May, and Isaiah Osbourne penned a new deal with the club until the end of the season.

Robins insists his hunt to improve the Iron team isn’t over yet.

He stated: “There is no resting.

"I don’t want to rest, I’m quite happy working and the work we have done so far in this window have been very good, and I think we’ve added sensibly.

"I’m still looking to add a face or two if we can pull it off, but again it has to be the right quality, right player and they have to be at the right value.

"It’s something we can benefit from for the remainder of the season if not beyond. I’ve been trying to do permanent deals that will give us that impetus, but we don’t want to do it too quickly as you can make all sorts of mistakes.

"If things come around that work for us and are right for us, the chairman will give me the backing to do so, and he has been brilliant this transfer window. I have to pay tribute to the board of directors."

There was also time for the manager to respond to questions regarding players and new contracts.

Robins said: “There is no need for any at this moment in time.

"There are things that need to happen between now and the end of the season, possibly even a little bit later on than that.

"I know what I’d like to do, whether we get there or not is another matter, but again there’s another group that will be becoming available in the summer, so between now and end of the season we’ll have lots to think about.

"There are one or two who need to play football, and we are looking to move them on in the next few days as the window closes a week today.”
