NO COMPLAINTS

14 January 2015

United lost 2-0 in their FA Cup third round replay at Chesterfield.

Iron boss Mark Robins had “no complaints” after a strong effort from his side following enforced changes which conspired against United for this replay.

Robins’ men matched the hosts for the ninety minutes and beyond but eventually succumbed to Spireites pressure.

“They’ve got a stronger FA Cup squad than the one we have and certainly today and this week there have been impacts on the squad,” Robins said.

“We’ve lost Sean (McAllister) and the changes we had to make were not ideal. Having said that we pushed them as far as we possibly could do.

“In 90 minutes it’s a 0-0 game. We could have maybe nicked it but we’ve no complaints really, no complaints.

“They probably shaded it on chances and possession but I thought we did okay in terms of our defensive strategy.

“Turning defence into attack wasn’t great, especially in the first half. In the second half we got to grips with it a bit more and managed to get higher up the field and try and press them.

“I felt we looked better in more advanced positions when we won the ball back. We probably kept it a bit better in the second half as well at times.

“We created one or two opportunities and just didn’t manage to take them. Then we were running out of legs. It is what it is, that’s just the FA Cup this season.”
