BURTON LEAVES THE IRON

29 January 2015

Striker Deon Burton has left the Iron after having his contract cancelled by mutual consent.

The 38-year-old’s first team appearances have been somewhat limited this term, having spent some time on the sidelines due to injury.

Burton was loaned out to York City in November but his spell was cut short after he sustained a knee injury midway through his second appearance for the club.

The former Jamaica international helped the Iron to promotion last term in what was his first season for Scunthorpe. He made 33 appearances in the 2013/14 promotion-winning season, scoring six goals.

He grabbed his first goal for the claret and blue in the 2-2 draw against Burton at the end of September 2013.

This season he has been restricted to five first team appearances for Scunthorpe. The 2-2 draw against Port Vale back in October was the last time he featured for United.

We wish Deon all the best for the future.
