The Iron's youth team drew 2-2 with their Burton Albion counterparts on Saturday morning.
United took the lead through a far post Charlie Cleminshaw header after he got on the end of a cross.Scunthorpe then made it two when Noel Burdett turned the visitors' defence inside out after going on a run and sent the ball across to the back post for James Dean-Atkinson to slot home.
Albion pulled a goal back right on the stroke of half-time though, and then scored again within five minutes of the second half starting.
Academy manager Tony Daws said: "We played really well in the first half, but a draw was probably a fair result at the end of the game.
"They had chances, and we did too.
"We felt we should have had a penalty when Noel Burdett went clear through on goal, and was challenged from behind.
"To be fair, Pat Weaver made some very good saves though. 2-2 was fair.
"We were missing seven of the players who started the season in the side, due to injuries, but we played well at times. We have a young side at the moment but it all bodes well for the future. We had four U16's out there today."
