The Iron's youth team drew 3-3 at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.
It was real end-to-end stuff as United shared the points with Rovers following a six-goal thriller. On nine minutes, Noel Burdett's turn and change of pace took him beyond the Rovers defence and his excellent cross saw Sonny Shilling on hand at the far post to give Scunthorpe the lead.
Rovers responded and levelled on 21 minutes from a corner, with United a little slow to clear.
On 46 minutes, Shilling should have scored his second as he volleyed over the crossbar from ten yards after a good cross from U16 player Lewis Butroid.
United had another opportunity to score a minute later but Rovers 'keeper McLaren made an excellent save diving at the feet of Jack Dyche.
The home team nudged themselves in front on the hour when Riley Barker gave a penalty away after bringing down the Rovers player.
The visitors' strike partnership of Dyche and Burdett combined to draw the Iron level on 73 minutes.
Burdett again used his pace to break clear and an intelligent play saw him cut the ball back to Dyche, who bagged with his left foot.
Within two minutes, United turned the game around and it was Dyche firing home through a crowd of players after Burdett had picked him out once again.
Doncaster came back and put the visitors under pressure and equalised on 83 minutes from a wide free-kick that was turned in at the near post.
