The visitors, who come into the game having lost three of their last four away matches, are priced at 15/8 by Sky Bet, the sponsors of the Football League, to come away from Scunthorpe with three points. A draw is priced at 23/10 but Oldham have only been involved in one draw in their last 10 matches.

The Iron are currently in 17th position in the table but have games in hand on all of the sides around them, including Oldham who sit in 10th. The Latics have played two games more than Scunthorpe but are only four points better off. Saturday’s opponents have had a mixed start to 2015 with two wins, one draw and two defeats, including Tuesday night’s 1-0 loss at Barnsley.

The last time these sides played a fixture at Glanford Park was in January 2013 and it finished honours even as Cliff Byrne and Jose Baxter rescued a point for Oldham after finding themselves two down after just 19 minutes. Niall Canavan scored first for the Iron and he is 28/1 to find the net first this time around. Mark Duffy was the other goalscorer in the 2-2 draw and the odds for a repeat result are 12/1.

For fans thinking that Luke Daniels, in the Scunthorpe net, will keep his first clean sheet on Saturday you can get odds of 9/4 for him not to let a goal in. Alternatively correct score bets of 1-0 and 2-0 to the Iron are 7/1 and 11/1 respectively.

Luke Daniels is just one of a number of signings made by Mark Robins in the January transfer window. Tom Hopper has been the standout signing so far with four goals in his last four games and the Leicester loanee, who recently had his deal extended until the end of the season, is 13/2 to score the first or last goal of the game. Another striker brought in is Dutchman Kevin van Veen. This Saturday could mark the debut for the striker, if he is selected, and Sky Bet have priced him at 6/1 to score first or last and an inviting 7/4 to score at anytime on his debut.

Other signings that are priced a bit higher to score are Jordan Clarke and George Evans. Clarke was signed permanently this month and has played in all three of Scunthorpe’s last three outings. He is 28/1 to score first or last and a massive 9/1 to score at anytime. Evans was signed on loan from Premier League Champions Manchester City and he made his debut in last weekend’s 4-1 win at Leyton Orient. He is 12/1 to score first or last and 4/1 to score at anytime.

Sky Bet are also offering match specials for this fixture. They have Scunthorpe to score two or more in the first half at 6/1, as well as Scunthorpe to score in the first ten minutes at 13/2. On the other side they have Oldham to score two or more in the first half at 7/1 and for the visitors to score in the first 10 minutes also at 7/1.

With the positivity around Glanford Park flowing after a successful January transfer and a good run of form on the pitch, a 7/5 bet for Robins to lead his side to a tenth League victory of the season could be the bet of the weekend.
