IRON 6/5 FAVOURITES TO BEAT BARNSLEY

24 February 2015

Scunthorpe United are 6/5 favourites to overcome Barnsley at Glanford Park on Tuesday night.

The away side are 9/4 to claim three points, whilst a draw is priced at 23/10 by Sky Bet, the sponsors of the Football League.

The Iron start the game in 16th position and come up against a Barnsley side who sit two places behind the Iron in 18th in the League One table. Barnsley have lost their last seven away games, including a 5-1 defeat at Crawley on the 14th February, and come to Glanford Park without ever picking up a win in all of their six visits to the stadium.

The fixture between the two clubs earlier this season saw Scunthorpe come out 2-1 winners with Irishman Paddy Madden scoring a brace and Barnsley’s Marcello Trotta scoring their only goal. A repeat scoreline of 2-1 to the Iron is priced at 8/1 and for Madden to score another brace Sky Bet are offering a price of 9/1.

Niall Canavan has scored two goals in his last two games at Glanford Park and the central defender is 7/1 to score at any time and 25/1 to score the first or last goal of the game. Fellow defender Jordan Clarke has scored against the Tykes earlier this season, during his time at Coventry City, and he is exactly the same price as Canavan at 7/1 anytime and 25/1 to be the first or last goalscorer.

Sky Bet are also offering some match specials for this League One fixture. Scunthorpe to score two or more in the first half is 11/2, whilst the away side are 17/2. Mark Robins’ men have also been priced at 6/1 to make a quick start and score within the first ten minutes, whilst Barnsley are 15/2 to find the net within the opening ten.

Following last weekend’s defeat to Preston North End, the Iron are looking to immediately bounce back to winning ways against Barnsley and a bet on a Scunthorpe victory at 6/5 may just be the bet of the week.
