Iron pair Alex Davey and Gary McSheffrey were visitors to Huntcliff Secondary School on Thursday night.
They attended the school's FLIPside project launch night on Thursday night."The project has been set up by Faculty leaders at the school to raise Grade D's to C's through mentoring," said Kaye Kaye, Head of Faculty for Science and PE at Huntcliff School.
"I just have to say a massive thanks as they were absolutely fabulous!
"They gave a speech about working hard, being motivated and just generally getting all of the right messages across.
"Gary and Alex took time to interact with the students and sign their project 'passports', nothing was too much trouble for them.
"We are really appreciative of their time and efforts."
