Iron full-back Scott Wiseman feels the team didn't perform to the best of their abilities against Leyton Orient last Saturday.
However. he stated to still be in the hat for a potential third round clash with Chelsea is fantastic.United know a victory in the replay against the O's next Tuesday would set up a mouthwatering away tie with Chelsea in the third round. But Wiseman insisted the focus is firstly on Port Vale this Saturday, and then the replay which will follow at Glanford Park.
"At the end of the day we've played a lot better and lost. So the fact we could go down there and still come away and be in the draw, which is potentially an amazing cup tie, is fantastic really," he told The Iron PlayerHD.
"We didn't really believe it to be honest. A few of the lads texted me, and I had to check myself. But it'll be a fantastic occasion, once we get through on Tuesday.
"At the end of the day, we're all focused on Saturday first and foremost."
Wiseman is expecting a tough test at Vale Park, but he believes the greater quality which the Iron possess, will give them a great chance of taking all three points.
He feels the tricky spell, which the squad are going through at the moment, is down to the vast number of injuries and suspensions which they've incurred.
He said: "It's a tough game. There's never going to be easy games in this league, which we've seen. That is why the league is wide open at the minute, from top to bottom. So it's going to be a tough game, but we know what we're going in for."
