YOUR SUPPORT IS A MASSIVE BENEFIT TO THE PLAYERS

7 August 2015

Iron defender Jack King says that signing up for the 12th Man initiative is vital for both the club and fans themselves, as United look to push on in League One.

King feels the more fans that turn up to Glanford Park the better and has encouraged anyone who hasn't, to get themselves down and get signed up to the scheme.

"I'd say get yourself down and get signed up, it's a benefit financially to the club and obviously a massive benefit to the players," he told The Iron PlayerHD.

"The more people we can pack out this ground with it's only going to benefit us and it's really positive for the lads when they do run out to hear the noise and to be cheered on."

The new signing also spoke from a personal and squad point of view as to how he feels pre-season has gone.

He said: "Pre-season's been good, most of the results have been positive. We've had quite a big turnaround of players and a lot of new lads have come in, but we've all settled in really well.

"I'm feeling fit and sharp, and obviously raring to go for Saturday.

"The primary objective in pre-season is to go out and get your fitness right and I think the majority of the squad have had that opportunity."

King was appointed vice-captain during the week and he says that it's a role that he'll relish and one that he's proud to have.

"It's an honour to vice-captain a club like Scunthorpe and hopefully I can bring some of my qualities to the role," he explained.

He was also full of praise for the fans and spoke of what role they can play this upcoming campaign.

He said: "The fans are massive, when you run out home or away and you hear your fans, it can give you a huge boost."

"When you're struggling or drawing in a game it can give you a huge lift."

Despite a strong pre-season, the new vice-captain says that the club have achieved nothing as of yet and the focus has to be on the weekend.

"Everyone knows the ambition of the club, we want to be right up there challenging," he stated.

"We want to be at the right end of the division, but we know if we don't put in the work we're not going to be, so we're raring to go."
