Stephen Dawson says that the vast number of travelling Iron fans on Saturday will spur the side on to kick off the season with a victory.
United visit newly promoted Burton Albion on the opening day and, with around 800 tickets already sold, the midfielder says the support gives the players a huge lift."It gives the players a huge boost knowing that so many people will be there and as players, seeing all those supporters there will spur us on to hopefully reward them with a good win," he told The Iron PlayerHD.
The Iron launched the 12th Man scheme after the conclusion of last season, with the aim of giving more back to the club's loyal fans. Dawson spoke of the importance of being a 12th Man this campaign
"It's key, i think every football club needs good support and they've really bought into what we're trying to do here," he said.
"All throughout pre-season they've come in their numbers and even on Saturday for the Lincolnshire Senior Cup game it was a great turnout."
The Irishman was also quick to highlight that despite United's unbeaten pre-season, they've achieved nothing as of yet and that the real test comes on Saturday.
"You don't get any points for those victories and draws that we got, so the real work begins on Saturday against a very organised team who'll be on the up," he explained.
"As players we can't wait to get going now, we've done the hard miles and now just can't wait to kick off on Saturday."
Dawson feels the upcoming campaign will be a good one for United and he hopes that the support that the side has already received in pre-season will remain a constant throughout the season ahead.
"As players we want to thank them, we appreciate them coming to support us and hopefully they'll be there all year round, which I'm sure they will," he said.
"There'll be a few downs, but hopefully more ups and hopefully we can reach or end goal."

CONCESSIONS:
To qualify for a junior under 12s season ticket, your date of birth must be after 31st August 2003. To purchase an under 16 season ticket you must be born after 31st August 1999. To purchase an under 18 season ticket you must be born between 31st August 1997 and 1st September 1999. To qualify for an 18-21 season ticket you must be born between 1st September 1994 and 31st May 1997. To qualify for an over 65 season ticket you must be born before 31st August 1950, because the senior concession age is changing from 60 to 65. However, if you are already in receipt of a senior season ticket you will be able to continue at the concessionary rate.
DIRECT DEBIT SCHEME:
This is in six equal payments, starting with your first payment when you make the purchase and then five further payments, starting in June until October.
As always, you will benefit from reserved seating for all league matches and first refusal for your seat for home cup matches along with priority tickets for away cup matches.
You will also receive £1 off away coach travel and a refund if the coach travels and the game is cancelled. With the prices frozen for the new campaign this is already great value, but what more will the 12th Man offer you?
