ROBINS LOOKS FORWARD TO SEASON START

4 August 2015

Iron boss Mark Robins is looking forward to the start of the new season and feels his squad is full of confidence.

His side have enjoyed a successful pre-season, remaining unbeaten throughout and also avoiding any injury troubles ahead of the new campaign, with a near full strength team at his disposal.

Robins felt that remaining undefeated was good for morale, but was also pleased to see all of his strikers in good form and hoped they could carry that into the season.

He told The Iron PlayerHD: “It's good for his confidence and all our strikers have been getting on the scoresheet.

“Paddy's been on fire and he's had a really good run in front of goal, scoring game in game out.

"Tom Hopper's also finished off pre-season really well and the others have all been finding the net too.

“The attention is starting to turn to next week and it's about keeping our players fit and also not losing the match. It was ideal preparation ahead of next week.”

With the season now under a week away, it poses a number of welcome selection dilemmas for the Iron boss, with several players staking a good claim for a starting spot.

Robins was pleased to have such a tough decision and called on all of his squad to be ready, if called upon, and to hit the levels he demands.

The United manager said: “Whoever plays for me will do a job for me. We need to have eleven players who are on their game and then a further seven who are ready to be called on.

“Everyone knows the levels we need to hit. If you want to be winners, you have to do the right things more often than not.

“We've shown we're capable in pre-season and we want to get off to as good a start as we possibly can. Everybody says the same thing at this stage of the season.”

The Iron boss said that there were still things he wanted to work on ahead of next Saturday’s clash at Burton, but was looking forward to a final week of preparation.

Robins said: “Everything is focused towards training this week, and there's a lot of work to be done still and to occupy our time."
