Scunthorpe United striker Paddy Madden says he's delighted to have signed a new contract and feels there are exciting times ahead for everyone at the club.

The Irishman signed his new three-year deal on the back of a prolific pre-season campaign and the striker says he's delighted to get everything sorted and over the line.

"I'm buzzing to get the deal done, since I've got here it's felt like home," he told The Iron PlayerHD.

"The fans and everyone at the club has made me feel welcome, so to get it over the line I'm very pleased and looking forward to my future with Scunthorpe.

"There's a lot of exciting things going on at the club, so I'm just happy to be a part of that."

Madden spoke of the positive relationship he has with manager Mark Robins and just how well he hopes to do for him.

"Me and the gaffer get on very well and he's a manager that I fully respect, and one that I want to do very well for," he explained.

The Iron striker says that the new deal will give him a lift going into United's opening game of the season away at Burton Albion on Saturday.

He is also eager to get back out on the field and start scoring once more.

He said: "Hopefully I can take the lift of the new contract into the game on Saturday and get a goal and a win. I'll be doing my best to achieve that.

"It's brought a boost to me and improved my confidence even more. So I just can't wait to get out there now and start playing.

"It's going to be a big crowd on Saturday at Burton and hopefully we can start with a win.

"When you get the deal done you can look on further and like I said I'm very pleased to get it done and there's exciting times ahead for the club.

"I'll be continuing to give 110% for the club in every game and hopefully it's a successful future for me and the club."
