United midfielder Neal Bishop says he saw a definite improvement in the Iron's performance when they took on Barnsley on Tuesday night.
The Iron created a number of chances and showed more signs of the encouraging form displayed during pre-season.Bishop found this to be a big positive as Scunthorpe go out looking for their first home win of the season against Crewe Alexandra this Saturday.
"It's always disappointing to lose, especially as the performance was a marked improvement from Saturday," he told The Iron PlayerHD.
"There were chances at both ends, but I felt ours were probably the better ones.
"It's frustrating to lose the opening game, but the performance against Barnsley was much better."
He continued: "The goals we've been giving away have been our own doing, which is 'good' in a way because it's in our hands.
"If we tighten up and tweak a few things, there's no reason why we can't turn the results around very soon.
"We're all sure that a positive result is just around the corner.
"Once we get those first three points on the board and get up and running, I'm sure we'll be in for a really good season."
Ahead of Crewe's visit on Saturday, Bishop is confident that the Iron will get their first three points on the board when they take on the Railwaymen.
"We're under no illusions that it's going to be a really tough game on Saturday," he stated.
"We're all confident, it's early days with a new system, but we believe we can get that first win of the season on Saturday."
