Young Iron fan Jayden Blades enjoyed pre-match luxuries ahead of Good Friday’s 2-0 win over Peterborough.

As part of Scunthorpe’s #SupportIronLocally campaign, the club have asked local businesses and schools to get involved in putting up posters across the town.

Jayden, who attends Grange Lane Junior School, took it upon himself along with mum Sarah to advertise Iron fixtures across his school after receiving the go-ahead from his head teacher.

He arrived and in the knowledge that his favourite player is Paddy Madden, the Irish striker had prepared personalised and signed mementos for him to take home – all including the United striker on the front.

From there, he got access behind the scenes to see what goes on prior to a Scunthorpe United matchday, viewing the executive boxes, the directors box and dugout, before more importantly visiting the home dressing room and the boot room.

His mum Sarah said: “He is mad on Scunthorpe United and has got a wall in his bedroom covered with Paddy Madden and Kevin van Veen.”

“We always arrive to the stadium early for games as Jayden likes to get stickers and complete his sticker album.”

Arriving in the home dressing room, Jayden bumped into his idol Madden, who took a short period out of his preparations ahead of netting in the club’s 2-0 victory over Peterborough United to have a picture with the young fan.

His mum added: “Jayden had a brilliant day and I’ve now sorted him a mascot package for the future.”

The club would like to thank Jayden and his mum for their support of the club and helping to build a profile of Scunthorpe United inside schools. Jayden received this treat as part of his efforts for the club.
