BERRY APPOINTED AS REFEREE FOR POSH CLASH

2 April 2015

The referee for Saturday’s League One match at Glanford Park between Scunthorpe United and Peterborough United will be Carl Berry.

The Surrey based official will be taking charge of his 27th fixture this season and his 10th League One game.

He has produced 110 yellow cards so far this term and 6 reds, with only one of those coming in a League One fixture, to Yeovil Town’s Ben Nugent in their 2-0 loss against MK Dons.

He has already refereed Saturday’s opponents, the Posh, already this season. He took charge of their 2-1 away defeat at Port Vale, in which he only booked one player, Peterborough’s Erhun Oztumer.

It is over a year since Berry was refereeing an Iron fixture with his last game being the 2-2 draw at Newport County, when Dave Syers and Paddy Madden both found the net.

The last time he officiated at Glanford Park was in 2012 when he sent off Scunthorpe’s Jordan Robertson in the 3-0 home loss to MK Dons.

Scunthorpe go into Saturday’s fixture in 19th place in the Sky Bet League One table, whilst the Posh are positioned in 8th.

The corresponding fixture at London Road earlier this season saw the Iron come out 2-1 victors with Luke Williams, who is now playing for Peterborough, scoring the opener for Scunthorpe and a deflected Isaiah Osbourne striker earning Mark Robins’ side the win.

Referee Berry’s assistants will be David Benton and Glen Hart, whilst Ian Dudley will take up the fourth official’s responsibilities.
