BANKES TO TAKE CHARGE OF COLCHESTER CLASH

17 April 2015

Peter Bankes will take charge of the Iron’s League One clash at Colchester United this coming weekend.

Born in Rutland, Bankes refereed Scunthorpe’s 3-0 victory over Gillingham at Priestfield Stadium earlier in the season.

Gillingham’s Doug Loft was dismissed before Paddy Madden gave the Iron the lead before the break. Neal Bishop then added to the lead with just under twenty minutes to go before Gary McSheffrey sealed the win in added time.

The last game he refereed was Stevenage’s 2-1 victory over Northampton in League Two on 11st April, where he handed out seven yellow cards and one red for Cobblers defender Ryan Cresswell.

He has handed out 83 yellow cards and six reds in 23 games so far this season and is a fairly inexperienced official, with this being his second season as a Football League official.

Bankes will be assisted by Matt Corlett and Mark Mellor, whilst Dave Bushell will act as Fourth Official.
