A CHANCE TO KICK ON

7 April 2015

Iron goalkeeper Luke Daniels believes Scunthorpe will get the points they need to climb up the League One table, speaking ahead of the away clash with MK Dons.

United claimed an excellent 2-0 win on Good Friday against a Peterborough side who still have the play-offs in sight.

Goals from Paddy Madden and Theo Robinson secured the victory and Daniels thinks the MK Dons match is another opportunity to pick up some points.

Daniels told The Iron Player: “It is another opportunity to kick on. They are a team we faced when I first joined the club and we gave a good account of ourselves and hopefully we can do that again.

“We’ve played some of the top teams and we always seem to do well, since I have been here and from what I can recall we have done okay. Hopefully we can do that again and really kick on."

When Scunthorpe faced MK Dons at Glanford Park earlier in the season, the Iron claimed a valuable point against a promotion chasing side after drawing 1-1, and Daniels believes they can do the same again on Tuesday.

He said: “Obviously they are a good side and they did cause us problems in terms of they had a few chances. We gave away a goal from a corner which we probably could have avoided. So I think out the game we deserved at least a point if not the win, so hopefully we can do that again when we visit them.

“We played a few of the decent sides at the time so hopefully we can turn that round."

With Sam Slocombe returning to full training with the first team since his injury in January, Daniels welcomes the goalkeeper back. He says the more quality players the club has, the better.

Daniels said: “I get on really well with Sam (Slocombe). We work well together obviously the three of us. And James (Severn) isn’t back yet. Hopefully we can help each other out towards the end of the season.

“Joe (Anyon) has been really good in training and from what I have heard about reserve games and that. Joe’s putting pressure on from that position. The more quality players in the club you have the better it will be.”

Daniels knows the Iron are capable of getting the three points after their showing against Peterborough, but says the squad will focus one game at a time.

He said: “Hopefully we can kick on get the points as soon as possible. We’ve got games we are capable of getting the points. We know we have winnable games coming up hopefully we can be alright.

“We know we will focus one game at a time we know we have tough games coming up but also we know we can win them, so we will focus and get the points required."
