2/1 FOR BACK-TO-BACK WINS

19 September 2014

Scunthorpe United are 2/1 to make it back to back victories in Saturday’s match up with Leyton Orient at Glanford Park.

Sky Bet, the sponsors of the Football League, have made Leyton Orient 5/4 favourites and made the draw a 9/4 bet.

Russell Slade’s Orient, who made it to Wembley in the last campaign when they reached the Play-Off final, have started the season with seven points in seven games and sit 19th in the League One table.

The Iron are on the same points as their opponents and are only below them in the league standings on goal difference.

Russ Wilcox’s side will be full of confidence following their 2-1 win over Coventry City on Tuesday night and a repeat result is priced at 10/1.

Lyle Taylor and Paddy Madden scored the goals which earned the sides second league win of the season. Madden is 6/1 to open the scoring on Saturday and Taylor, whose powerful header proved to be the winner on Tuesday, is 13/2 to be the first player to score.

Over half of Scunthorpe’s matches this season have seen both teams finding the back of the net and with Leyton Orient conceding in their last three matches, 8/11 seems a good price for both teams to score.

If you have a feeling that Iron goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik will keep a clean sheet then you can back both teams not to score at evens or, at an even tastier price, you can back Scunthorpe to keep a clean sheet at 5/2.

Orient’s last match saw them travel to Notts County and come from behind to pick up a point in a 1-1 draw. Sky Bet make it 9/1 for the same result to occur at Glanford Park on Saturday but the more optimistic Iron fans can back a 3-0 Iron victory at 33/1.

The last meeting between the two sides came in March 2013 and saw a 2-1 Iron win with Niall Canavan grabbing the winner. For Niall Canavan to score at any time in the 90 minutes on Saturday afternoon then you can get a healthy price of 14/1. However, a massive price of 260/1 can be found if you place a scorecast bet on Canavan to score the first goal of the match and for there to be a repeat result of the last match between the two sides, which finished 2-1.

Sky Bet are also offering “Match Specials” for this League One clash. It is 8/1 for the Iron to score 2 or more goals in the first half and 15/2 for Wilcox’s side to find the back of the net in the first ten minutes. They are also offering odds of 7/2 for both teams to score in the first half but a better bet seems to be in the “Winning Margin” market, where the Iron to win by 1 goal is 7/2 and for them to win by two goals is 9/1.

Following their midweek victory over Coventry, Scunthorpe United will look to make it a fourth victory at Glanford Park in all competitions this season and look a good price at 2/1 to leapfrog their opponents Leyton Orient in the table with three points.
