The Iron youth team's away match at Hartlepool had to be abandoned after only nine minutes of play.
Iron midfielder Matt Stockill slid a well weighted pass in behind Hartlepool's left back saw Noel Burdett race goalwards.A Hartlepool central defender spotted the danger and came across to make a sliding challenge as the three players clashed just outside the home team penalty area.
Sadly, Pool left back Adam Male appeared to sustain a serious leg injury in the incident.
After a 30 minute wait, the referee had no alternative but to abandon the game as the medical team waited for the ambulance to arrive.
