Iron defender Callum Howe scored a debut goal for Vanarama Conference side Gateshead.
The United central defender scored a late equaliser for the promotion chasers at Forest Green.Phil Turnbull’s free-kick was met by substitute (and ex-Iron) Michael Rankine at the far post, who nodded down for Howe. The young defender couldn’t have caught the ball any sweeter – volleying beyond Russell in emphatic fashion and capping an impressive debut.
He notched to cancel out a strike by former United frontman Jon Parkin in the 1-1 draw.
Howe is set to spend a month on loan there.
