IRON 5/2 TO CLAIM A WIN AT PORT VALE

21 October 2014

It will be new manager Mark Robins’ first trip on the road as Scunthorpe United manager as the Iron travel to Port Vale on Tuesday night.

The Iron won their last trip on the road against Gillingham, but go into the game as 5/2 outsiders with the League’s official sponsor Sky Bet, with Port Vale favourites at Evens.

Mark Robins’ first game in charge ended in a draw and the draw is 13/5 on Tuesday night. If you fancied the same score line as Saturday, a 1-1 draw is priced at 5/1.

The last game on the road saw the Iron win 3-0 and United are valued at 40/1 to make it consecutive 3-0 away wins.

The last Scunthorpe victory was a 2-0 win in the Carling Cup in 2009, with a 2-0 win valued at 18/1. A 2-1 Iron win is 11/1 and a 1-0 win is available at 10/1.

On their last trip to Vale Park back in 2007, United drew 0-0 and the same result this time around is priced at 11/1.

Port Vale’s last victory over Scunthorpe was a 3-1 success in 1986 and a repeat of this score is valued at 14/1.

Both teams to score is priced at 8/13, while a double chance of Scunthorpe or a draw is available at 8/11.

An Iron win with both teams to score is valued at 5/1 or a score draw is priced at 100/30.

Rory Fallon continued his impressive start to his Iron career on Saturday and he is 7/1 to score the first goal against Port Vale.

Alternatively, the New Zealander is 12/5 to score anytime in the 90 minutes, while strike partner Paddy Madden is 6/1 to be first goal scorer and 7/4 to net anytime.

Port Vale top scorer Tom Pope has five League One goals for the hosts and is priced at 9/2 to grab the first goal or 5/4 anytime.

Ben Williamson is the next favourite to score for the home side. He is priced at 11/2 to be the first goal scorer and is followed by Byron Moore, Achille Campion and Jordan Slew, all priced at 6/1 to open the scoring.

Iron top scorer Paddy Madden to score and Scunthorpe to win is available at 4/1, while Tom Pope to score and Port Vale to win is priced at 15/8. A double of both Madden and Pope to score is valued at 6/1.

Elsewhere in League One, leaders Bristol City host Bradford, while fellow pace-setters Peterborough visit bottom of the table Crewe.

Other clashes see Walsall travel to Crawley, Gillingham host Preston, Oldham play Coventry and Doncaster come up against Leyton Orient.
