The Iron travel to Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday as they look to grab three points towards the League One campaign.The two sides have met each other 36 times during their history, with the first meeting coming in 1954, the Iron thumping Barnsley 6-0. Scunthorpe have won 13 of the games, whilst Barnsley came on top 16 times, seven ended in a draw.
The last time the two sides met was only last season, when the Iron travelled to Barnsley for the first round of the League Cup. The game finished 0-0 after extra time, but Barnsley went through to the next round on penalties.

When the two sides met in 2010, Paul Hayes sealed a victory in the last minute to give Scunthorpe the three points.
Gary Hooper broke the deadlock midway through the first half, flicking the ball into the back of the net.
Daniel Bogdanovic equalised with 12 minutes to go, but up popped Paul Hayes, who curled his shot round the keeper in the 95th minute to give the Iron all three points.

Scunthorpe 2-2 Barnsley
In 2008, four goals were shared as the Iron drew 2-2 with Barnsley at Glanford Park, after a late equaliser from the visitors.
Goals either side of halftime from Ian Morris and Kelly Youga gave Scunthorpe a two goal lead. Former Iron midfielder Grant McCann pulled one back midway through the second half, before Brian Howard scored from the penalty spot in the final minutes to rescue a point for Barnsley.

Paul Hayes is a player who scored many times in this fixture for both sides, and it happened again in this victory, back in 2005.
Hayes opened the scoring for Barnsley after only 16 minutes, but an Andy Crosby penalty levelled the game on 28 minutes.
Cleveland Taylor put the Iron ahead on 71 minutes and the side managed to hold onto all three points at Glanford Park.
