HOOPER APPOINTED CRAWLEY REFEREE

20 November 2014

Simon Hooper is the referee for Saturday’s trip to Crawley, as the Iron look to earn a third straight victory.

The Wiltshire based official will be overseeing his 18th match of the season, with five of his previous matches being League One matches.

The last time Hooper took charge of an Iron match came in November 2012, when Doncaster Rovers overcame Brian Laws’ team 4-0 in League One.

This season, Hooper has produced 52 cards in 17 games, with 50 being yellows and two being sending offs. His first red card of the season came on the opening weekend when he sent off Marcus Ollson in Wolves’ win over Norwich and his second came between Bradford and Sheffield United when he sent off Stephen Darby off for Bradford. In 35 matches last season he produced 126 yellow and 6 red cards.

The last time he officiated a Crawley match came last season, when a last minute Leigh Griffiths penalty earned Wolves a 2-1 win over the Red Devils at Molineux in League One.

This will be Scunthorpe’s first game since their FA Cup victory over Forest Green Rovers, due to the postponement of the League One fixture against MK Dons.

He will be assisted by Jake Hillier and Ian Cooper, with Paul Kelly as the fourth official.
