Defender Callum Howe is aiming to kick on during the 2014/15 season after penning a new deal with the club.
The 20-year-old centre-back played more than 20 games in a loan spell at Gainsborough Trinity last season and won vast acclaim from their manager, and former Iron midfielder, Steve Housham."It's very pleasing for me to sign a new contract. I've been here for quite a few years now, having come through the youth set-up and I am delighted to sign another contract," he told The Iron Player.
"The club had a very good season last year and the future looks promising.
"As soon as I got offered the contract, I knew I was going to sign. I was pleased with it.
"I had some good experience out on loan at Gainsborough last season and enjoyed that.
"Steve Housham has been a massive help and rates me highly. He has said to me that whenever I need some advice I can call him.
"Russ Wilcox has been a huge help too. He has aided me massively. He knows all about being a centre-back himself and we always stay behind and do stuff in training.
"I want to be playing here if I can. That's not always as easy as it seems though because the two central defenders - David Mirfin and Niall Canavan - have done really well.
"I can't expect to be playing, but I'll do my best to come back as fit as I can and see what happens.
"If not, I wouldn't mind going out on loan and getting some experience.
"I'll be ready for pre-season and hoping to get as much game time as possible, and do as well as I can."
