PREVIEW: YORK CITY (H)

2 May 2014

Saturday’s final match of the season sees the already-promoted Iron looking to claim the League Two title against York City at Glanford Park.

United sit in third although with victory, and if both Chesterfield and Rochdale fail to win their matches, the Iron can pinch top spot.

York, meanwhile, are battling to finish as high as they can heading into the League Two play-offs.

The Minstermen beat Scunthorpe 4-1 at Bootham Crescent in October earlier this season.

However, in the 58 meetings between the two sides in total, it’s the Iron who have the better head-to-head record with 27 wins to York’s 21, while the other ten finished level.

Team News: Scunthorpe United...
Midfielder Sean McAllister, who has not featured since March, could make a return to the bench for the Iron.

Marcus Williams remains the only doubt, although boss Russ Wilcox believes he too could be involved.

Last line-up: Slocombe, Nolan, Mirfin, Canavan, Williams, Sparrow, Syers, Collins, Hawkridge, Winnall, Madden.

Team News: York City...

All of Josh Carson, Wes Fletcher and Dan Parslow (all knee) will not be available for the Minstermen on Saturday.

Those aside, Nigel Worthington has a near full-strength squad to call upon.

Last line-up: Pope, Oyebanjo, Lowe, McCombe, Davies, Brobbel, Penn, Montrose, Reed, Andrew, Coulson.

Worthington told Sky Sports (skysports.com): "It's a nice feeling to get in the play-offs because a lot of hard work has gone in by everyone at club.

“The run we've been on at the moment is magnificent and we fully deserve it.”
