HUDDERSFIELD WILL POSE THE RIGHT TEST

20 May 2014

United have already confirmed that Huddersfield Town will visit Glanford Park this summer and Iron boss Russ Wilcox is confident they'll be able to attract a Premier League outfit as well.

The Terriers will visit us on Saturday, July 26 and United manager Russ Wilcox is anticipating a great game against a Championship side who have some real quality in their ranks.

Wilcox told Scunthorpe-United.co.uk: "It is a great fixture for us to get under our belt for a pre-season game.

"Huddersfield have a number of quality players on their books and they aren't that far away which means they will also bring a decent following as well.

"If you're able to pit your wits against a Championship club, which is now only one league above us will give us a lot of confidence heading into the season."

The United manager added: "Hopefully that game will excite the fans a little bit and it will get them all ready for the season ahead."

Wilcox is confident that a Premier League side will also be visiting Glanford Park this summer for a pre-season friendly, however, not all the details have been confirmed yet.

"That is still to be confirmed but we are just about there which is exciting," he added.

"We also have Lincoln City in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup who will come up here."

He added: "They are the only three that we are likely to have here at Glanford Park but we will also be having the usual ones against the local sides but they need confirming."
