FOUR AWARDS FOR SLOCOMBE

3 May 2014

United goalkeeper Sam Slocombe collected four trophies at the end of the season awards dinner at Glanford Park on Saturday night.

The Iron shotstopper ended his best season between the sticks for the Iron by claiming just under half the awards which were presented on the night.

Slocombe was named the Players Player of the Season, while he was also voted Player of the Season by the Scunthorpe Telegrapgh.

The local goalkeeper, who has became United captain this season also picked up the Disabled Supporters Player of the Season award and a similar accolade from the Scunthorpe United Trust and Study United.

United striker Sam Winnall, who picked up the League Two golden boot for the season, collected the first award of the evening as he was named Disabled Supporters Away Player of the Season.

The striker, who scored 23 goals in his debut season for the Iron, was also presented with the Leading Goal Scorer Award by manager Russ Wilcox.

Influential midfielder Sean McAllister also picked up three awards on the night.

McAllister was presented with the Ernie Storey Player of the Season Award by United Chairman Peter Swann - the final trophy to be presented at the evening presentation.

The ever dependable midfielder also picked up awards from BBC Radio Humberside and the Winterton Iron Supporters Club, having already picked up the Irish Iron's Player of the Season at full time against York.

Youngster Hakeeb Adelakun was voted Youth Team Player of the Season.

That came as very little surprise as the winger had made the easy transition from the youth team to the first team.
