PREVIEW: CHELTENHAM TOWN (A)

25 March 2014

Tuesday’s game at Whaddon Road sees the Iron looking to potentially move top of the League Two table against a mid-table Cheltenham Town side.

The Robins have been beaten just once in their last six, with that defeat coming in a dramatic, late 4-3 loss at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

There has been 15 meetings between the two sides in total, and it’s the Iron who have the better head-to-head record with eight wins to Cheltenham’s three, while the other four finished level.

United could name an unchanged side for the trip to Whaddon Road. Deon Burton (knee) continues to remain out, though.

Last line-up: Slocombe, Nolan, Mirfin, Canavan, Williams, Hawkridge, McAllister, Syers, McSheffrey, Madden, Winnall.

The Robins will check on David Noble ahead of the Iron’s visit, although manager Mark Yates has no fresh injury concerns.

Last line-up: Brown, Ihiekwe, Brown, Elliott, Jomabti, Taylor, Noble, Deering, Richards, Harrison, McGlashan.

Yates told Cheltenham Town’s official website (ctfc.com): “They (Scunthorpe) have some good players for sure but their work ethic has been getting them results and quality strikers that can score goals.”
