LEAGUE TWO REVIEW: WEEK 30.5

12 March 2014

Tuesday night’s draw at home to Southend United meant the Iron missed the chance to move top of the League Two table.

However, many of Scunthorpe’s promotion rivals also dropped points, but there were still other important wins around the division.

Northampton Town picked up a vital 1-0 victory at Exeter City near the bottom as Ian Morris’ second-half goal won it for the Cobblers.

Torquay United grabbed a 2-1 win against Rochdale at Plainmoor. Krystian Pearce gave the Gulls the lead before Jamie Allen equalised before half-time. However, Joss Labadie bagged the winner for Torquay inside the final ten minutes. Oliver Lancashire was also sent off for Dale late on.

York City were also 1-0 winners as they beat Mansfield Town at the One Call Stadium with a Ryan Bowman penalty in the first half.

Morecambe came from behind to beat Newport County 4-1 at the Globe Arena. Tom Naylor gave the Exiles a first-half lead before conceding a penalty after the break and being sent off. Jamie Devitt scored the resulting spot-kick, and goals from Kevin Ellison and two for Jack Redshaw won it for the Shrimps.

Dagenham & Redbridge were 2-1 winners at Bristol Rovers despite going behind to John-Joe O’Toole’s header. The Daggers turned the game around through Adebayo Azeez’s goals either side of half-time.

A Conor Hourihane goal gave Plymouth Argyle a 1-0 victory at Wycombe Wanderers.

And there were draws for Accrington (0-0 at home to Hartlepool), AFC Wimbledon (1-1 at home to Chesterfield), Bury (2-2 at home to Fleetwood), Oxford United (1-1 at home to Cheltenham) and Portsmouth (0-0 at home to Burton) in the latest round of Sky Bet League 2 fixtures.
