LEAGUE TWO REVIEW: WEEK 29

3 March 2014

Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Newport County meant the Iron missed the chance to move top of the League Two table.

Elsewhere in the division, Burton Albion beat Accrington Stanley 2-1 at the Pirelli Stadium thanks to Billy Kee’s goals in each half, either side of a Dean Winnard header.

Cheltenham Town picked up a 2-1 win at home to Bury despite going behind to Clive Platt’s early opener. Goals from Ashley Vincent and Byron Harrison turned the game around for the Robins.

York City were also 2-1 winners as they beat Exeter City at home. John McCombe gave the Minstermen and early lead before Michael Coulsen added a second. Exeter pulled one back through Scot Bennett, but it was not enough.

Plymouth Argyle ran riot to beat Morecambe 5-0 at Home Park. Goals from Durrell Berry, Curtis Nelson, Andres Gurrieri and two for Lewis Alessandra gave the Pilgrims three points.

Hartlepool United were 3-1 winners at home to Torquay. James Barmby put Pools in front before Luke James and Marlon Harewood completed the victory in the second half.

A Scott Hogan hat-trick fired Rochdale to a 3-0 win over Oxford United at Spotland.

And there were draws for Southend (1-1 at home to Wycombe), Fleetwood (0-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon), Dagenham & Redbridge (0-0 at home to Mansfield) and Northampton (0-0 at home to Bristol Rovers) in the latest round of Sky Bet League 2 fixtures.
