EXPECTING ENTERTAINMENT

14 March 2014

Iron boss Russ Wilcox is expecting an entertaining game at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

John Sheridan's side presently sit in eighth place in League Two, level on points with Southend United, who occupy the final play-off spot in seventh.

With the Pilgrims in strong form too, Wilcox anticipates a tough encounter at Home Park.

He told The Iron Player: "They're in good nick and are one of the form teams, having won four of their last five games.

"John Sheridan has done a good job down there and it shows you what can happen if you stick with managers.

"He was under a little bit of pressure in the early part of the season but has come through it.

"It shows you that, in this division, any team can go on a run.

"As exemplified by Plymouth and York all of a sudden having a chance of getting into the play-offs.

"You have to keep believing you can do that.

"We're on a terrific run ourselves of 20 unbeaten and have scored 39 goals in that time, taking 38 points.

"There are a lot of positives from our point of view as well."

He added: "Our away form has been outstanding all season, and we'll go with the same plan to win as we've done all season.

"John Sheridan does exactly the same so it should be an exciting game."

United expect to welcome back midfield Sean McAllister, who has shaken off a calf injury.

"Sean is okay. He trained on Thursday and is fine for the weekend," Wilcox continued.

"Matt Sparrow played very well the other night though and I have a selection dilemma because he and Sean are two quality players.

"It's a selection dilemma of the positive kind and I haven't had too many of those recently.

"I will make a decision on that on Friday."
