ELTRINGHAM HANDED BURTON CLASH

Geoff Eltringham has been appointed as referee for this weekend’s big game with Burton Albion.

Eltringham last refereed the Iron on Boxing Day in the 2-2 draw with Bury, where Sam Winnall was sent off for a second booking. He last refereed at Glanford Park in a clash between the same two sides in November 2012, with the Iron going down to a 2-1 defeat. 

The County Durham based official has been a Football League referee since 2009 and has refereed a number of games in the Championship, League One and League Two. 

Last season, he gave out 78 yellow cards and 9 red and this season, he has given out 79 yellows and 4 reds so far.

He will be assisted by Simon Clayton and Geoffrey Liddle, whilst Andrew Fox will act as fourth official.
