Not much planned this summer? Finished your exams and looking for something to do with your time?

Scunthorpe United Community Sport & Education Trust has limited places available on the National Citizen Service programme this summer.

NCS is a personal and social development programme exclusively for Year 11 and Year 12 students and runs over four weeks throughout the summer.

Participants will spend their first week in the Lake District taking part in activities that will challenge them and take them out of their comfort zones while also spending time mixing with new people. Activities include mountaineering, rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing and gorge scrambling.

Week two will see participants stay at The Lawns in Cottingham, part of the University of Hull student campus. Here they will take part in exciting activities focusing on team work, problem solving, learning new skills and learning about the local community.

Participants will spend week three based at Scunthorpe United working in teams to design a social action project that will benefit their local community which they will then follow up on in week four with the delivery of their social action projects.

The cost for taking part in the NCS is only £50 and this includes all travel, accommodation, catering and activities for week one and week two residential stays. As well as this you will be refunded the full £50 fee upon completion of the four week programme.

Up to 50,000 participants nationally will take part in the NCS this summer. Backed by the government, the NCS will stand out on your CV and is recognised by UCAS.
