WE HAVE TO BE AIMING FOR TOP 10

2 June 2014

Having signed a new two-year deal with the Iron, midfielder Sean McAllister is hoping for a top 10 finish next season.

The popular centre-midfielder agreed new terms with the club last on Friday and he says that the players will want to replicate the feats of other teams by having a successful first season in League One.

He told The Iron Player: "As a squad, and one that is moving into a new league having just been promoted, will be to secure yourself in the league.

"However, we will want to do a lot more than that."

McAllister added: "We look at the squad we have got and we will be looking at a top 10 finish."

Next season the 26-year-old will be return to one of his former clubs in Port Vale.

During his time at Vale Park McAllister only made three appearances, through no fault of his own, and he says returning there wouldn't be there as special as if he went to Shrewsbury or Sheffield Wednesday.

McAllister explained: "I only spent two months there.

"Returning there wouldn't be as special to me as it would be if I was going back to Wednesday or Shrewsbury.

"I never got the opportunity there and that wasn't though my own fault," the United fans favourite continued.

"I had to accept that the players there were doing really well and the manager stood by them because of that."

He added: "Nevertheless it will be nice to go there and play a in front of them next season."
