10 June 2014

The Iron are sad to learn former goalkeeper Brian Reeves has passed away aged 75.

The Skelmersdale-born player signed from Blackburn in April 1962, aged 23 but played only seven games in his first two seasons.

He became first-choice for 1964/65 when Ken Jones left the club, but was then replaced in February and moved on to Southport in the summer.

Brian was an ever-present during Southport’s promotion-winning season when they finished runners-up in Division Four to Stockport County in 1966/67.
