Veteran striker Deon Burton is delighted to sign a new contract with the club and is keen to be a first team mainstay next season.
The 37-year-old, who played a big part in Scunthorpe's elevation to League One last season, experienced his second promotion in succession - having done the same at Gillingham a year earlier. When asked if he could make it three in a row with United next season, he told The Iron Player: "Well, never say never. Anything is possible.
"There was interest from elsewhere but I've started something here with the lads and I saw the others re-sign and I thought why not carry it on?
"I've been very happy here and with how Russ has been with me, and I thought it was only fair to stay on.
"I've not really thought about targets, but I want to be in the team. I don't just want to sit on the bench.
"I would like to be out there, playing games and contributing to the team."
Talking about penning the new one-year deal, he continued: "It's great to finally sign a contract.
"I've been away since agreeing it a couple of weeks ago.
"Everything was in place and I just had to come back up and sign it.
"It's a one year deal and it will be in League One this time, which will be great.
"Everyone has agreed new terms and that's because it's a club where good things are happening.
"It's great to keep the core from last year and, with a few new additions, I think we'll be alright.
"It's good, because everyone knows each other. There isn't a whole new squad coming in, which usually means that time is needed to gel.
"We know each other and have played together for a whole year.
"Now it's just a case of going out there and doing what we know we can do."
