Iron winger Gary McSheffrey has signed a new one-year contract.

The deal will keep the 31-year-old with the club until the end of next season.

The ex-Chesterfield man made 13 appearances for Scunthorpe last season.

Following a successful trial with the Iron, which saw him score a hat-trick against Sheffield Wednesday in a reserve match – he signed for United on a deal until the end of the season just gone.

The experienced winger has spent the majority of his career at Coventry City, albeit in two spells, but he secured a £4 million move to Birmingham City in 2006.

After four years at St. Andrew’s he moved back to Coventry where he had another successful spell.
