GOALS BREED CONFIDENCE

21 July 2014

Iron manager Russ Wilcox was delighted to see striker Paddy Madden continue his pre-season scoring run at the weekend.

The former Yeovil frontman has played two halves of football this pre-season and scored three goals - the latest of which came during Saturday's 2-1 warm-up win at Gainsborough Trinity.

"It's still pre-season, but goals breed confidence," Wilcox told The Iron Player.

"He has three goals in two halves for us now and he'll be pleased with that.

"He's scored, Sam Winnall has scored, and Deon Burton is off the mark too.

"We just needed Lyle Taylor to get a goal to top it off.

"He had a couple of half-chances and it just didn't quite happen for him, but I'm sure it will. We still have three weeks left so we're not going to panic at the moment."
