DOWN TO THE LAST FOUR

8 July 2014

The first semi-final of the 2014 World Cup will be contested this evening as the race for football’s most coveted international trophy intensifies.

Brazil play Germany in the opening last four match in Belo Horizonte and both sides are 7/4 to win in 90 minutes whilst the draw is 11/5.

Sky Bet are predicting a tight match and the two nations are both 10/11 to qualify and reach their first final since 2002.

The hosts are without star player Neymar, who has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament with a back injury, so will be looking for a new hero and striker Fred is 15/2 to score first.

Hulk is 8/1 to bag the opening goal whilst Chelsea forward Willian, who is likely to replace Neymar in the starting line-up, is 11/2 to score in 90 minutes.

Germany’s Thomas Muller has scored four goals so far during the competition and is 6/1 to net before anyone else whilst Miroslav Klose is 9/4 to score in 90 minutes and become the World Cup’s all-time leading marksman.

The Brazilian’s are 33/1 to replicate their 2-1 quarter-final result against Colombia and progress whilst Germany beat France by a single goal in their last eight match and are 7/2 to do the same tonight.

The other semi-final between Holland and Argentina takes place in Sao Paulo on Wednesday with the Dutch 11/5 to win in 90 minutes and make a second successive World Cup final appearance.

Argentina are 7/5 to win the game in normal time whilst the draw is offered at 11/5.

Louis Van Gaal’s side beat Costa Rica on penalties in the last round and are 8/1 to do so again whilst the Argentinian’s saw off Belgium 1-0 and are 11/2 to record a repeat score line on Wednesday night.

Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie has bagged three goals in the tournament and is 6/1 to score first and Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben is 7/1 to net the opener.

Lionel Messi has impressed with his performances so far and is 4/1 to score first for a third time in the tournament or 5/1 to bag a brace whilst Sky Bet are offering odds of 6/1 for Van Persie and Messi to both score in 90 minutes.
