ADDISON FIT AND READY

31 July 2014

Miles Addison’s month-long loan move to the Iron was confirmed on Monday and he made his first appearance for the claret and blue on Tuesday evening against Frickley.

The 25-year-old played alongside Callum Howe in the centre of the Iron defence, keeping a clean sheet in the process.

Reflecting on the Iron’s penultimate pre-season match against the Northern Premier League side, Addison told The Iron Player: “When you come to non-league teams in pre-season, it’s a big game for them. Frickley showed that and they gave us a good game at just 1-0- a tight scoreline.

“It’s about getting the minutes under our belts for the start of the season and we got that with a tough workout.

“You don’t know what to expect with these teams. The manager was straight into us before kick-off about professionalism and making sure we did things properly. If we weren’t 100% on the night, we could easily have lost that.”

Whilst impressed with his new team-mates, Addison was also complimentary towards the West Yorkshire outfit.

“They didn’t give us much time on the ball and credit to them. They were the fittest non-league team I’ve played against,” he stated.

“You could tell it was a big game for them by the way they played, but the boys did well to come out with the win and a clean sheet.”

Addison moved to the Iron less than a fortnight before the start of the new season, with just one more game remaining before the league kicks off and he admits his game time in Bournemouth’s pre-season matches means he is ready and raring to go for the Iron.

He said: “I feel quite fit and ready to be honest. We have one more game Saturday before the season starts. I got three games in at Bournemouth before I came up so I’d say I am in a good condition.”
