IRON SWOOP FOR MCSHEFFREY

14 January 2014

The Iron can confirm they have signed winger Gary McSheffrey until the end of the season.

McSheffrey impressed United boss Russ Wilcox during last week’s reserve team match against Sheffield Wednesday – where he scored a second half hat-trick.

The 31-year-old signs following a short spell with fellow League Two promotion rivals Chesterfield.

A three time league runner up, McSheffrey will be hoping to help United to the league title and on a personal note his first piece of silverware during his vast career.

McSheffrey, who will wear the number 28 for the Iron, has spent the majority of his career at Coventry City.

He had two spells with the Sky Blues between 1998 and 2006 before returning there in 2010.

He played just shy of 250 games for the Sky Blues scoring 61 goals.
