United’s Boxing Day fixture against Rochdale will be officiated by Tony Harrington.
Last Saturday’s 1-1 draw away at Bradford, when Hakeeb Adelakun scored a late equaliser for the Iron, made it eight games unbeaten for Mark Robins’ side.Harrington, who is a Cleveland based official, last refereed these two sides in last season’s League Two match up between the pair.
The game at Rochdale Stadium finished 4-0 to Scunthorpe, with Rochdale picking up two red cards. Niall Canavan gave the Iron a half time lead and then the official produced the two dismissals, when Olly Lancashire and Jack O’Connell were given their marching orders. Sam Winnall, Dave Syers and James Spencer wrapped up the victory with Rochdale finishing with nine men.
This season, Harrington has taken charge of 16 fixtures and is yet to produce a red card. In his first ever appearance at Glanford Park, the official will hope to continue his run of games without sending any players off as he oversees a game between two in form sides.
Rochdale are on a four game unbeaten run whilst the home side enter Boxing Day without a defeat since the end of October.
Neither side lost in their Boxing Day fixtures last season, as the Iron drew 2-2 away at Bury and Rochdale beat Mansfield 3-0 at home.
Harrington will be assisted by Danny Markham and Ollie Yates, with Alf Greenwood taking the fourth official responsibilities.
