STOCKBRIDGE HANDED BLACKBURN CLASH

12 August 2014

Sebastian Stockbridge has been the handed job as head official for the Capital One Cup first round tie between the Iron and Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

This will be Stockbridge’s first game in charge this season following the 24 games he officiated last season, ranging from the Championship, down to League Two. He also officiated games in the FA Cup and Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Stockbridge refereed one game involving the Iron last season, which was their League Two clash with Northampton. The game finished 1-1, with Niall Canavan putting Scunthorpe ahead before Clive Platt equalised.

The official gave out five yellow cards, two of which were for the Iron’s Andy Dawson and Matt Sparrow.

Stockbridge also refereed Tuesday’s opponents Blackburn last season in their 2-2 draw with Barnsley. Only two yellow cards were shown that game and they were shown to Blackburn’s Jason Lowe and Barnsley’s Stephen Dawson.

During his 24 games last season, Stockbridge gave out 83 yellow cards and seven red cards, including six red cards in his last 12 games of the season.

Stockbridge will be assisted by Danny Gratton and Robert Jones, meanwhile Mark Astley will be the Fourth Official for the fixture.
