Glanford Park will play host to Preston North End on Saturday in the Iron’s third game of the season.

Five Goal Thriller…
Nicky Wroe scored a first-half hat-trick for the visitors at Glanford Park back in October 2012. Scunthorpe were able to reduce the three goal deficit through goals from Leon Clarke and Karl Hawley but were unable to find an equaliser. Wroe’s first effort came after as little as 25 seconds and he completed his side’s scoring in the 36th minute.

Late Woolford Winner…
The Iron came from behind to defeat Championship strugglers Preston early in the Championship’s 2010/11 season. Chris Dagnall gave the claret and blue an early lead in the 4th minute but Preston responded in the second half with two goals to put them in front. Michael O’Connor’s free kick equalised for Scunthorpe and Martyn Woolford swept home a rebound from a Freddie Sears strike to ensure victory for Scunthorpe.

Scunthorpe 3-1 Preston…
A Gary Hooper brace helped the Iron end Preston’s unbeaten start to the 2009/10 campaign. Grant McCann opened the scoring after 12 minutes with Hooper providing the assist. The striker then had a shot cleared off the line before tapping in from close range just before the interval. Hooper then grabbed a second in the 53rd minute through a tidy finish. Former Iron striker Jon Parkin scored a consolation for the visitors five minutes later.
