IRON UNDERDOGS AGAINST READING

26 August 2014

The Iron go into Tuesday’s Capital One cup tie, against former Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkin’s Reading, as underdogs.

Despite defeating Championship opposition in the shape of Blackburn Rovers in the first round of the competition, our official betting partners SkyBet have placed a Scunthorpe victory in the 90 minutes at 11/5.

Reading, who defeated League Two side Newport County 3-1  in the first round, are 11/10 favourites to win the game in 90 minutes, even after losing 4-0 to Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

Scunthorpe claimed their first league point of the season away to Yeovil, and SkyBet have another draw for the Iron at 12/5, showing they believe the Championship opposition will come out on top during the 90 minutes.

The second round introduces the Premier League sides who aren’t in European competitions, such as Manchester United. SkyBet have placed Manchester United as huge favourites for their clash with MK Dons, with the Red Devils 2/5 to win in 90 minutes. League One’s MK Dons are 13/2 to claim a surprise victory, whilst a draw is 100/30 in the 90 minutes.

The Iron face Walsall at the weekend, who are also in the second round of competition. The Saddlers are at home to Premier League opposition in Crystal Palace. Palace are favourites to win the game in 90 minutes at evens, whilst a home win you can get at 5/2 and a draw at 12/5.
