Scunthorpe are 2/1 to come out on top against Preston at Glanford Park on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Football League sponsors SkyBet have the away side as favourites for victory at 13/10, with a draw being registered at 23/10.

Preston drew 1-1 against Notts County in their first game of the league campaign but will be looking to follow their midweek cup victory against Rochdale with three points against the Iron.

Those planning on backing there to be three goals or more in the tie will get odds of 10/11; the odds of the game producing less than 2.5 goals are 4/5. The bookmakers have predicted that it is more likely that both teams will score (8/11) than not (evens).

The Iron to win and keep a clean sheet is 9/2 on the SkyBet website and 3/1 for Preston to do the same. 5/2 are the odds offered for the claret and blue to be winning at the interval and 100/30 to score in both halves.

There is an assumption of goals in this fixture as SkyBet are offering 9/1 for the match to finish 0-0. The first goal could go either way according to the bookies, with the away side 5/6 to break the deficit and Scunthorpe 6/5.

So despite the Iron’s cup upset against Blackburn midweek they remain the underdogs going into the weekend’s encounter, but at 2/1 they could prove a valuable bet for victory.
